GBE Wk 9: Midnight - Then, Now & Maybe

I used to know Midnight. She and I were close for many years. Most times she would eventually bring 1am and 2am with her and we seemed to get along just great.
However, I changed, as people do and quite unexpectedly.
A few months ago I met 9pm. Of course I knew of her and heard her name mentioned once or twice but for the first time I actually met her and we became good friends almost instantly. It was around the time I discovered I was pregnant and she couldn't have been more supportive. It seemed the more I got to know her, the better I felt and easier my days became. Once she even introduced me to the infamous 8pm. (Who is so sweet by the way!)
Of course I do miss Midnight now and again. We had some good times, hell we had some GREAT times. But I know my relationship with Midnight has changed forever now.
Not to say that it's over, just changed. I'm sure once this baby is born, she and I will meet up again. It won't be all fun and games like it was before, but we will see each other again.

  1. Oh I'm sure you'll get well reacquainted near the end of your pregnancy and when the baby comes. Friends who are that close always pick up where they left off, eventually!

  2. Oh yes, Midnight will be waiting for you with open arms shortly. She will once again embrace you and welcome you, but I predict you will not be so excited to see her. You will be wishing with all inside you that she would just quietly pass and allow you to sleep through her arrival.

When you become the parent of adults and your time is your own again, many years from now, you might rekindle that love affair with midnight, but I can tell you it is a much more peaceful and tranquil relationship at that point. Still, just as important.

  4. This is such a clever post! Loved it! Yes, me and midnight were inseparable many moons ago...We too, had some great times together, but it came to an end. I meet up with a different midnight now and then, and let's just say, it isn't the same...lol

  5. I do think you will meet midnight again as Jo said above---but also like she said, you my be a tad bleary eyed to appreciate her as you once did or totally taken with the new bundle of joy to notice.

Congrats to you on your baby!! Cheers, Jenn

  6. This is really cute (and I mean it in a good way)! Yes, you'll meet midnight, but she'll have bags under her eyes and won't be able to do more than sip a drink. ;)

  8. Clever take on the topic, and I guess you'll 'meet' many of the hours between midnight and 6am once your baby arrives. Best of luck!

One of my favorite posts by one of my favorite bloggers did a similar thing with "Mr. Fifteen Pounds." That was years ago and it's STILL one of my favorites...ever. :O)
